Scholarship Selection Process

The Friess Lake Action Group (FLAG) annually offers up to two (2) scholarships with a maximum amount of $500 each to former Friess Lake School District students. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide these graduating students with financial assistance to the college or technical school of their choice and to recognize and acknowledge their achievements as exemplary, well-rounded students.

 

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

The following guidelines must be met at the time of application for a student to be considered for a FLAG scholarship:

  1. Student must have graduated eighth grade at Friess Lake School.
  2. Student must be enrolled in his/her senior year of high school with projected graduation by June 30th of the year of application.
  3. Student must be able to demonstrate acceptance at a two or four-year university/college/technical college
  4. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  5. Student must complete all sections of the Scholarship Application.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are available on the Friess Lake School District - FLAG website each February. The deadline for returning completed applications is April 1. Students are requested to complete information about their post-secondary education plans, high school extra-curricular activities, out of school activities, volunteer activities, and paid employment. All requested information pertains to the student's high school years. Students are required to solicit two (2) letters of recommendations. One must be from a current teacher; the other should be any non-related adult.

EVALUATION PROCESS

The philosophy of the FLAG Board in awarding scholarships is to identify those students who excel in all aspects of their academic, volunteer and extra-curricular activities. Consideration will be given to the level of completeness of all sections of the application with honesty and integrity. FLAG will evaluate all applications received by the deadline.
