A Message from HUHS:
Students are our Highest Priority
Providing all of our students, with the skills and knowledge to "conquer the challenges of tomorrow," is the essence of our goal to become a world class institution. To do so, all curriculum, support programs,
extended learning experiences, staffing plans, and co curricular activities are evaluated, on an ongoing
basis, according to their effectiveness to providing student success and a passion for life long learning.

As in any school district today, we recognize there is a variety of levels of abilities, needs, and goals
within our student population. Our commitment is to effectively utilize the dwindling resources and
align all available resources for the benefit of each learner. Routinely, we will make informed decisions
to insure that our learners remain involved in the life of the school, including elevating our learners'
performance expectations. In all cases, students will be encouraged and supported to explore a variety
of opportunities and to access relevant course work during their high school years.

In a conscious effort to eliminate hurdles in our learners' pursuit of knowledge and skills, students will
be encouraged to progress beyond the borders of the established course work. We also acknowledge
that learners' interests and abilities may differ from subject to subject, and therefore, we must provide
multiple opportunities ... for those interested in either a four year college experience, two year college
experience, technical college experience, and/or going directly into the world of work.

Hartford Union High School will also identify and respond to the special learning needs of our student
population. We will provide a support system and staff to assist students with special needs in order to
reach their goals. Staff members will routinely pursue new strategies to meet our students' needs that
are both relevant and cost effective. Our staff is committed to work with parents and students to
develop realistic, yet challenging plans for academic and personal achievement which serve all of our
students well.
